Tax season brings a rush of one-off returns. The firms that grow are the ones that turn those into year-round business clients. Accounting marketing should do both: catch the seasonal searches and build steady demand for ongoing work. This page is part of our professional services marketing.

CPABC advertising rules

Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) regulates the CPA designation in BC. Several rules affect marketing:

  • Only CPABC members may use the CPA designation in BC.
  • CPABC members need a public practice licence to offer services such as assurance, compilation and tax, and using “CPA” in a business name or service description counts as public practice.
  • Advertising must not be false or misleading, and your website shouldn’t list services your firm isn’t licensed to offer.
  • Use of the CPA logo needs authorization.

If your firm offers bookkeeping without a public practice licence, we make sure your website and ads describe your services accurately and don’t imply CPA services.
