Technical SEO is the foundation of our Internet Marketing Service work. It makes sure the pages you pay to build and write can actually be reached, rendered and stored by search engines before content and links get a chance to help.
What is Technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the work that makes a website easy for search engines to crawl, render and index. If a page cannot get through those three stages, it cannot rank, no matter how good the writing is.
Search engines first discover URLs through links and XML sitemaps. They then load the HTML, CSS and JavaScript to see the page the way a visitor would. Finally, they decide whether to store the page in their index and which version counts as the main, or canonical, copy.
| Stage | What can go wrong | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Crawling | robots.txt blocks key folders, broken internal links, pages only reachable through a search box | robots.txt rules, crawl paths, server errors, orphan pages |
| Rendering | Content or links load only after JavaScript runs, blocked CSS or script files | Rendered HTML in the URL Inspection tool versus the raw source |
| Indexing | Stray noindex tags, duplicate pages, conflicting canonical tags | Search Console Page indexing report, canonical choices, duplicate clusters |
What is included in our Technical SEO service?
Our Technical SEO service covers the site-wide settings and code that affect every page at once. Each item below is checked, then fixed directly or handed to your developer with clear instructions.
- Crawl control: robots.txt, blocked resources, crawl errors and server response codes
- Indexing: noindex tags, canonical tags and the reasons listed in Google Search Console
- Redirects: 301 redirects for moved pages, redirect chains, 404 and soft 404 pages
- Site architecture: click depth, crawlable internal links, URL structure and orphan pages
- Mobile-first indexing: the mobile version shows the same content, links and data as desktop
- Security: HTTPS on every URL, no mixed content, one preferred domain version
- XML sitemaps that list only live, indexable pages, submitted to Google and Bing
- Language versions: hreflang annotations when you publish English and Punjabi pages
How does Vivid Marketing approach Technical SEO?
- 1
Free analysis
We look at your site and goals, and tell you whether technical issues or gaps in content and authority are more likely holding you back.
- 2
Crawl and data review
We crawl the site the way a search engine does and review Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools through access you grant us.
- 3
Prioritise
Issues are ranked by their effect on the pages that bring you calls, bookings and sales, not by how many warnings a tool shows.
- 4
Fix
We make changes in your content management system or write specific tickets for your developer, including the exact URLs and settings involved.
- 5
Validate
We use URL Inspection and the Validate Fix option in Search Console so Google rechecks the affected pages.
- 6
Monitor and report
We watch Search Console for new problems, since plugins, theme updates and new pages can bring old issues back.
Have an in-house developer who would rather make the changes? Our SEO Consulting service delivers the findings and a roadmap your team can implement.
Which technical issues commonly affect local business websites?
Many technical problems come from ordinary events: a redesign, a new plugin, or a quick fix that was never undone. These are the patterns worth checking on any Surrey business site.
| Issue | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Site rebuilt without 301 redirects from old URLs | Links and search history pointing at the old pages are lost, and visitors hit 404 errors |
| A noindex tag left on after a staging site went live | Google is told not to index pages you want found |
| Near-identical pages for Guildford, Fleetwood and Cloverdale with only the place name changed | Google may treat them as duplicates and choose one canonical, so the others rarely show |
| Real estate listing feeds or product filters creating thousands of thin URLs | Crawling time is spent on low-value pages instead of your key service pages |
| English and Punjabi pages with no hreflang or clear language signals | The wrong language version can appear for a searcher |
How does Technical SEO connect with speed, schema and AI search?
Technical SEO overlaps with two specialised services. Page experience is measured by Google’s Core Web Vitals, where a good score means LCP of 2.5 seconds or less, INP of 200 ms or less and CLS of 0.1 or less. Deep performance work sits in our Website Speed & Core Web Vitals Optimization service.
Structured data is the second overlap. We flag invalid or missing JSON-LD during technical work, while full builds of LocalBusiness, Service and FAQPage markup are handled through Structured Data & Schema Markup.
AI search tools also depend on clean technical foundations. ChatGPT search draws partly on Bing results, so we submit sitemaps in Bing Webmaster Tools as well as Google Search Console. A page that search engines cannot crawl is unlikely to be read and cited by AI answers either. Technical work is one piece of our broader Search Engine Optimization (SEO) service.
Technical SEO for Surrey, the Lower Mainland and clients across Canada
Our office is in Hyland Square on 152 Street in Newton, and we meet clients in person across Surrey’s six communities and nearby cities such as Langley, Delta, Burnaby and Richmond. Technical SEO suits remote work well, because nearly all of it happens inside Search Console, your website dashboard and your hosting account.
That means a business in Calgary, Halifax or anywhere else in Canada gets the same process as a business on King George Boulevard. We share findings through reports and video calls, and you approve changes before anything goes live. To see where your site stands, request a free analysis or call (778) 488-5585.

How do I know if my website has technical SEO problems?
The clearest source is the Page indexing report in Google Search Console, which lists pages Google has not indexed and why. Other warning signs include a drop in organic traffic after a redesign, the wrong page appearing for your brand name, or new pages that never show up in search. Our free analysis can tell you whether technical issues are a likely cause.
How much does Technical SEO cost?
Cost depends on the size of your site, the platform it runs on, how many issues exist, and whether we make the fixes or your developer does. A ten-page service site and a store with thousands of product URLs need very different amounts of work. Request a free analysis and we will explain the scope before quoting.
How long does it take for technical fixes to affect search results?
It depends on how often search engines recrawl your pages and how serious the original problem was. Fixes only take effect after Google revisits the affected URLs, and that schedule is set by Google. Removing a block can show up in indexing reports fairly soon, while ranking changes depend on content and competition too. We do not promise timelines.
What access do you need, and do I keep ownership?
Usually we need user access to Google Search Console, a login for your website, and sometimes hosting or DNS access for redirects and HTTPS. You stay the owner of every account and property. We work as an added user, and you can remove our access at any time.
Does Technical SEO help with AI search tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?
It supports them indirectly. AI search tools read web pages, so content that is blocked, hidden behind scripts or missing from Bing’s and Google’s indexes is harder for them to use. Technical SEO makes your pages accessible and clearly structured, which gives AI answers something reliable to draw from.
